Our expert Insolvency & Corporate Team

Director

John Harlow

I first started working in Insolvency in 1985, for a boutique Insolvency and Accountancy practice in Nottingham, which later merged with a top 10 national Accountancy firm.

In 1991, I passed the Joint Insolvency Board Examinations and obtained my licence to take appointments as an Insolvency Practitioner.

In 1995, I left that firm to set up an independent practice with some of my colleagues in Leicester. In 2006 I joined a Midlands-based Accountancy firm and set up a new office in Leicester, taking my Insolvency team with me.

In 2010 I disenfranchised the Leicester office and set up the independent practice of John Harlow Insolvency and Corporate Recovery, maintaining the same team and operating from New Walk in Leicester.

Outside work, I enjoy sailing, being a member of Notts County Sailing Club and volunteering as a Watch Leader with the Tall Ships Youth Trust. I also sit on the local committee of the Wooden Spoon charity, raising money for projects aimed at disadvantaged and disabled children. During the Winter, I enjoy ski-ing and following Leicester Tigers Rugby Club.

I am married to Elspeth and we live in the Vale of Belvoir.

If you would like to contact me about anything, please feel free.

Senior Manager

Lynda Butcher

I am the manager of the Leicester office, a qualified Insolvency Practitioner and member of the Association of Business Recovery Professionals. I deal with all types of corporate and personal Insolvency.

Irish born and bred, I started my career working in the accounts department of one of Ireland’s largest property surveyors/valuers. I moved to the UK in 2001 and initially worked with John Harlow as a Personal Assistant in the Insolvency department of a previous practice, progressing to a Junior Administrator in 2002.

In 2006 I became a Senior Administrator and passed the Certificate of Proficiency in Insolvency examination in 2007. In 2011, I passed the Joint Insolvency Examination and obtained my licence in January 2013.

Outside work, in what spare time I have, I enjoy hiking, travel and reading and have completed amongst others, the Ring of Kerry hiking trail. I have sought refuge behind a bear bin in Canada to avoid rutting Elk, who were blocking the route to my tent and made a leap of faith to a rescue boat over crocodile infested waters in Australia, when the engine on the boat I was on, broke down!

Senior Administrator

Donna Lee

I previously worked for an independent Insolvency practice from 1990 until 1997 where I was employed as an office junior, ultimately progressing to Secretary to the MD.

I joined John Harlow ‘s team 1997, where I was employed as a PA for the Insolvency Department. Having worked hard and gained experience in dealing with Insolvency on a day to day basis, in 2000 I progressed to a Junior Insolvency Administrator within the firm.

In 2006 I was promoted to a Senior role and successfully sat and passed the Certificate of Proficiency in Insolvency (CPI) in 2008.

I am now a Senior Insolvency Administrator in the Leicester office and specialise in dealing with all types of corporate and personal Insolvency.

I enjoy the Good Life, tending to my veggie plot and socialising with my family and friends. My hobbies include ski-ing, reading, walking my dog Otto and making homemade jams and chutneys.
